Many people choose to pay a professional to things fixed but i try to do most of these on my own.
The other day, i realized that the door knob had come loose. Let me show you how easy it was to fix it.
How to fix a loose door knob
First off, this is what i mean by a loose door knob. It comes out when i pull on it and goes back in when i push it in.
Fixing this is easy, all you have to do is push the door knob in and tighten a single screw.
Thats it. Fixed.
The mechanism: how door knobs work
Lets see how a door knob works.
This time, we unscrew it instead. The door knob is stabled with this small abnormal looking screw.
This single screw is the only thing holding the doorknob to the door.
This is how the other side looks like.
The thing sticking out of the door allows the doorknob to fit doors of various width.
Stick the L Shaped doorknob all the way in, tighten the screw, and the door is back to normal.
Tightening a single screw is all i did so its not much to call it "fixing" but many people actually call professional to get this fixed. Don't waste your money on something this easy.
Be sure to get this done while its loose, before you loose the screw. You don't want the door knob come off while you're inside.
